Original LMS Cast Metal Signal Lever “STOP” Collar

An original London, Midland and Scottish Railway signal-box lever collar, dating from the period of LMS operation between 1923 and 1948.

Cast in metal and retaining extensive original red-painted finish, the collar is clearly marked “STOP” across one end, together with the cast L(M)S ownership mark. It would have been placed over a signal-box lever as a highly visible reminder that the lever must not be operated.

The pronounced working wear, paint loss and surface oxidation give the piece tremendous character and provide an honest record of its former railway use. Its compact sculptural form makes it an appealing display object as well as a genuine piece of British signalling history.

An uncommon survivor with strong decorative and historical interest for a railway collector, signal-box enthusiast or industrial interior.

Condition

In authentic used condition with extensive paint loss, surface oxidation, pitting and general wear consistent with its age and working railway history. The markings remain legible and the weathered finish has been deliberately retained.
