Late 17th-Century Geometric Oak Chest on Later Stand

A striking late 17th-century oak chest, distinguished by its boldly geometric-moulded drawer fronts and rich, warm colour, now raised on a later sympathetic stand.

The upper section provides an excellent arrangement of drawers over several tiers, fitted with brass drop handles and decorative escutcheons. The later stand incorporates two further drawers and is raised on turned supports united by stretchers.

A highly decorative and practical piece with wonderful architectural presence, generous storage and the honest character expected from furniture of this age. The upper chest and stand separate for easier transportation.
