Large Late Victorian Carved Oak Wall Mirror

An impressive late Victorian wall mirror, dating to circa 1880–1900, with a richly carved oak frame of exceptional decorative presence.

The substantial rectangular frame is worked throughout with deeply carved and pierced scrolling foliage, acanthus leaves and rope-twist detailing. A bevelled mirror plate sits within the inner carved border, reflecting the light beautifully and adding further depth to the design.

The oak has developed a wonderfully warm colour and mellow patina, highlighting the quality and complexity of the carving. Generously proportioned and highly decorative, this would make a superb statement piece above a fireplace, console table or substantial chest.

A characterful antique mirror with real architectural presence.
