Edwardian Mahogany Mirrored Overmantel Fire Surround

A handsome Edwardian mahogany fire surround with an integral mirrored overmantel, dating from the early 20th century.

The broad moulded mantel shelf sits above a rectangular mirror plate, framed by gently rounded uprights and decorative split-turned mouldings. Below, a shallow display shelf projects over the fireplace opening, while the tall outer supports create an architectural and well-proportioned appearance.

The mahogany has developed a rich, warm colour and attractive period character. Its restrained detailing makes it easy to place in both traditional and more contemporary interiors, where it would form an impressive focal point.
